Prof. Khalid in a chat on Thursday told newsmen that the hospital has set up a cardio-thoracic centre with a state of the art facility to carry out the open heart surgery, noting that it will be the first time an open heart surgery will be conducted in the northern part of Nigeria.
He also said that the hospital will carry out the surgery in collaboration with experts from University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNNTH), Nsukka, which is a national centre for open heart surgery in the country and another University in Ghana.
The up-coming surgery, he said, is a culmination of many years of careful planning and upgrade of the capacity of the hospital.
The CMD also mentioned that ABUTH as a centre of excellence for Oncology (cancer treatment) is expanding its linear accelerator treatment centre for treatment of cancer patients.
According to him, the ongoing expansion work at the oncology centre is to cater for more cancer patients following the influx of cancer patients from across the country to the hospital for medical attention.
“The hospital records 600 new cases of cancer and between 1500 to 1800 referral cases annually. SOKOTO LOCAL REPORT

*An Open letter*

Cc:

• *Sokoto state Ministry of Health*
• _UNICEF  sokoto command_
• *WHO Sokoto Command*
• NGO'S & other health related agencies
• *General public*

With due humility & honour I have the privilege to use this channel to pen-down  our grievances in health sector & health related issues.

As Hausa's says *Lafiya Uwar jiki* let me use this opportunity to call on above agencies to ponder this problem as it become endemic in our society especially *Sokoto State*

Immunizations play a vital role in maintaining the health well-being of the community.

But nowaday immunization programmes in our society facing enormous challenges,
So why the challenge ?
I have made a several observation & consultation from a different genders & personality, but all what I have found-out the Health campaign & immunizations programs is not going right because of one single mistake of health agencies.
That's recruiting of unrelated health personnel's.
I am not saying we most exempt anyone which is not health worker but we have put  health personnel's to work actively in the services.

In my community I thoroughly investigate all what I have found out is 85% of the peoples who are in the immunization system they're not health personnel's, & I know it's not only my community majority of our communities they confronting the same challenge.

Imagine in the other community  you can see a vaccinator which is not health worker by profession vaccinating a child, haba Jama'ah how risk is this !.
I can easily say *"wannan yana daga cikin dalillan dasukasa wasu basu aminta ayiwa 'ya'yansu Allurar Rigakafi*".

What will seriously baffle me you can see a lots of health personnel's in the community who are perfectly perfect in handling the immunization programs but the agencies & peoples who have the Mantle power of the programme are recruiting fake people's whose they don't have any relationship with health issues.

I am making this write-up with high shy of this matter as it become rampant in our society some were recruited because they're relatively related to government, some they come from ruling families, *wasun kuma saboda sunada Gatane kawai*.

Haba Jama'ah with this we are expecting Good health well-being in our society ? It's simply impossible.

As matter of everything you can't be succeed till you adopt a something which is rightly right,
How can you call *an engineer to  receive a labour from a pregnant woman*?
Rather how can you call a *Hunter to inject you if you're sick* ?
Neither possible nor right.

With this little bit  I am drawing  the attention of Governments & other health related agencies to make an authentic correction of this problem
As *Health practitioners use to say* " _The health of one man, is the health of the society_".

A Journalist would rather be tortured, jailed or in the extreme, killed rather than disclose his source. To the Journalist, it is sacrosanct, it is cardinal, it is the peak of his ethical responsibility to never disclose his source. Many have gone to jail and it is considered a badge of honour in the profession. According to Idris, ‘Mr IGP' the young man, Samuel Ogundipe will give you hundreds of sleepless nights and super high blood pressure if you are waiting for him to expose his source. He would rather go to jail and when out, will be held in honour, promoted, sponsored by international organisations, remembered and used as reference by students of journalism and journalists world over. Mr IGP sir, what will you be remembered for beyond your transmissioning gaffe, will you even still be in the police force after this dispensation? What will you be remembered for? MEDICATION OF DIABETES

Medications of Diabetes Currently, one goal for diabetics is to avoid or minimize chronic diabetic complications, as well as to avoid acute problems of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. Adequate control of diabetes leads to lower risk of complications associated with unmonitored diabetes including kidney failure .(requiring dialysis or transplant), blindness, heart disease and limb amputation. The most prevalent form of medication is hypoglycemic treatment through either oral hypoglycemics and/or insulin therapy. There is emerging evidence that full-blown diabetes mellitus type 2 can be evaded in those with only mildly impaired glucose tolerance. Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus require direct injection of insulin as their bodies cannot produce enough (or even any) insulin. As of 2010, there is no other clinically available form of insulin administration other than injection for patients with type 1: injection can be done by insulin pump , by jet injector, or any of several forms of hypodermic needle

Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard is in line for a move to the Championship. The one-time golden boy of Norwegian football is primed for a loan into the second tier as the Spanish giants look to continue his development. The 19-year-old (right), who made history when he joined the 13-time European Champions four years ago, spent the last season on loan in Holland. But now Los Blancos are looking for a new temporary home and that will put several English clubs on red alert. Madrid will want to increase the standard of the left-footed player and will be anxious that he plays under the pressure of performing on a big stage. It will be the logical next step for the youngster, who first attracted attention when he broke into Stromsgodset’s first team at the age of 13. Odegaard played for Norway before his 16th birthday and he left Stromsgodset in a £3m move to the Bernabeu. However, he failed to get to grips initially with the level of expectation surrounding him and a spell playing for the reserves under their then boss Zinedine Zidane failed to show the anticipated improvement. (Image: REUTERS) Villa could get rid of duo Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has recommended that the club pays-off Ross McCormack and Micah Richards. The two have been surplus for well over a season and the Geordie has asked the new owners of the Birmingham club to end their contracts. They are now primed to enter into negotiations with the duo who have not formed part of Bruce’s plans for a couple of years. Richards, 30, has barely featured for Villa, making just 24 league starts since he joined the club from Manchester City over three years ago. Villa’s boss has indicated that fitness issues have kept him out of contention since then. It is a different story with ex-Scotland international McCormack. The pair have not seen eye-to-eye since an incident when the player cried off training, claiming the gates to his house would not open. Since then, he has been shunted out on loan to Melbourne City where he made a decent impact, netting 14 times in as many games for the A-League side. But he has remained on the outside since then and Bruce wants to end the 31-year-old striker’s stay at the club for the good of both parties. McCormack must go down as Villa’s worst signing of all time in terms of cost-per-goal. He cost the club £12m when he joined from Fulham and has enjoyed wages of around £2m-a-year since then, scoring just three goals in return. The Tottenham star has been in talks over a new deal but The Sun on Sunday claim that they are struggling to reach an agreement. That in turn opens the door for Real, who have been courting the Denmark star for some time now. Real are considering potential replacements for Luka Modric, who continues to be linked with a move to Inter Milan. Eriksen has just two years left on his current Spurs deal. The Reds, who open their Premier League campaign against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, are in the latter stages of talks to offload the out-of-favour striker. Turkish-Football also report that La Liga clubs, including Valencia, are still in contention to secure the Belgium international. The 23-year-old had a mixed campaign on loan with Wolfsburg last term and is not yet ready to compete with the likes of Mohamed Salah for a first-team slot at Anfield. Liverpool were initially hoping for a permanent deal worth around £26million. (Image: REUTERS) Rojo poised for Fenerbahce loan Manchester United are holding talks with Fenerbahce over a deal for Marcos Rojo. According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, the Super Lig runners-up are hoping to agree a loan move for the Argentinian international who has fallen out of favour. Rojo has dropped behind United defenders Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Lindelof in the pecking order so he is not expected to play much this campaign. The 28-year-old made only 12 appearances in all competitions last season. He was not even named in the squad for United’s opener against Leicester City.
